We are having another Preview Screening once again! Thanks to Sony Pictures, Advertlets are happy to invite you to the preview screening of “The Other Guys” this 12 October 2010.
Synopsis
NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson and P.K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City. They don’t get tattoos – other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You’ve seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They’re not heroes – they’re “the Other Guys.”
But every cop has his or her day and soon Gamble and Hoitz stumble into a seemingly innocuous case no other detective wants to touch that could turn into New York City’s biggest crime. It’s the opportunity of their lives, but do these guys have the right stuff?
Columbia Pictures’ ensemble action comedy The Other Guys stars Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan, Ray Stevenson, with Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Adam McKay and written by Adam McKay & Chris Henchy, the producers are Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Jimmy Miller, and Patrick Crowley.

RCZ, the fun Peugeot
The fresh-looking 3008 and 5008 illustrate that Peugeot is determined to offer products other than correct, conventional cars. The 2+2 seat RCZ, that has passed from show concept to production model in two and a half years, follows the path, or perhaps it starts a new one in the style area. Compact at 4,29 m in length, it has looks, driving fun and good equipment, is reasonably practical and affordable too. The low, pleasant coupe silhouette has a chic ‘double bubble’ roof (no open version is expected) and a screen in the rear hatch made of real glass that extends such graceful shape; quite a construction feat.
Based in the same architecture than the popular 308, this front wheel drive coupe blends sports-car style, with details as a rear foil that automatically emerges in two positions depending on road speed, ride comfort and fuel economy as in any regular compact, and a generous cargo space that gets much bigger when the backrests of the tiny rear seats are folded. Petrol engine offer comprises two versions of the turbo 1.6, with 156 and 200 hp, each one coupled to a 6-gear manual box. A 6-gear automatic transmission for the first one will also be offered. The diesel alternative is a163 hp 2.0, lively and frugal (CO2 emissions under 140 g/km), which will be a base for the 4WD hybrid version expected for 2011.
To characterize the 200 hp RCZ, Peugeot has devised specific suspension settings that hardly affects ride comfort. A reinforcement bar in the front axle also contributes to better turn-in and sharper lines in bends.
Countryman, the grown-up Mini
Countryman, the grown-up Mini
Theoretically born as a niche product, Mini has developed into a brand with a whole range. We have already known three body styles, and there will probably be a coupe derivative too. We witness now the presentationof the Countryman, a 5-dr SUV model that doesn’t honour the name Mini for size but it does for spirit and looks. It is, not only taller than the other Minis, also much longer at 4.1 m, and based in a different platform with 2.6 m wheelbase and multi-link rear suspension. Countryman is also roomier than its brothers and with a more generous cargo space. Boot can be extended by sliding longitudinally the rear seats in individual portions, in top of conventional folding. The chic packaging is with four seats and a Centre Rail from front to rear of cabin where accessories can be arranged; but a 3-seat rear bench is also available at no cost.
New Mini can be had with three petrol 1.6 engines with direct injection, from 98 to 184 hp. Good fuel efficiency is helped by regenerative braking and Start/Stop function. Diesel offer, also with 1.6 engines, has versions of 90 and 112 hp, both homologated for a low fuel consumption, with CO2 emissions below 120 gr/km. An ALL-4 permanent integral transmission, with variable torque distribution between the front and rear wheels, is optional for the 184 and 112 hp engines of Cooper S and Cooper D. With that option, a collapsible propeller shaft adds to the passive safety features of Countryman.
Car of the Year 2010: VW Polo wins the match
Car of the Year 2010: VW Polo wins the match
11 / 30 / 2009
The Volkswagen Polo is the Car of the Year 2010. It won a close contest with the Toyota iQ. Just ten points, 347 to 337, separated the two leading contenders, while the Opel/Vauxhall Astra took third place, with 221 points.
The Polo, a car which in the eyes of many jurors looks and feels like a scaled-down Golf, has been even more appreciated than its bigger stable-mate, which took third place last year. In fact, it is the first Volkswagen CotY winner in 18 years, following the win in 1992... by a Golf. All the 59 Jury members from 23 European countries gave points to the winner, and 25 of them chose it as their favourite. The iQ received points from 58 jurors, with 20 top marks. The Opel/Vauxhall Astra was voted by 55 Jury members, with five of them giving top points.
Even if the VW model is shorter than a number of competitors in the B segment, this generation of Polo is fully capable of accommodating at least four adult people in comfort. Room, performance, refinement and a reasonable cargo space endorse that affirmation. As well as practical reasons, the small VW appeals for its fine exterior design and the impeccable execution of the cabin, which has a level of perceived quality unprecedented in this category.
Energy efficiency is also an important point for potential customers, with the current trend for downsizing. The Polo offers an interesting line of engines, and also the pleasant-to-use DSG automatic/sequential transmission, with two clutches. The new 1.6 litre TDi diesel engine perfectly suits the size of the car, while among the petrol engines is a lively 1.2 litre TSI with turbo which also balances performance and fuel economy. The Polo is offered in two kinds of Blue Motion derivatives, both with diesel engines. The 1.2 litre three-cylinder engine with 75 HP is homologated for an average fuel consumption of 3.3 litre/100 km, equivalent to an emission of 87 g/km of CO2.
